The president also asked to focus on “increasing the capabilities” of the Army, and thanked partners who have sent air defense systems such as Patriot, NASAMS, IRIS-T, RAVEN or Hawk to help Ukraine protect its infrastructure. and its civilian population from Russian airstrikes.
Zelensky said that “the Ukrainian air shield is already stronger than last year” but “it still does not fully protect the entire territory,” and declared that he is working with his partners toward that goal.
Russia has already attacked dozens of infrastructures of the Ukrainian energy system this fall, but so far it has not launched any massive bombing like those carried out in the previous fall and winter, when it left millions of Ukrainians without water and electricity for part of of the coldest period of the year with this type of attacks.
