The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskythanked the support of USA during the last year and a half of fighting against the Russian troops and highlighted their “unwavering” commitment to the liberation of his country.
Zelensky’s message followed the White House announcement on Wednesday afternoon, in which he announced that more ammunition, weapons and cars totaling $1.3 billion.
This new military assistance package is already the eighth that the Pentagon has announced since February 2022, which translates into more than $42 million dedicated to this fight, and that seek to meet “Ukraine’s urgent needs through the allocation of critical capabilities in the short term”, as well as assist in the “building of the lasting capacity of the Armed Forces” of Kiev.

Zelensky stressed that this shipment “will contribute to save Ukrainian lives and approach our common victory” and added: “We appreciate the unwavering support of the friendly American people.”
As reported earlier by the Pentagon, four NASAM air defense systems and related munitions, TOW anti-tank missiles, 152mm artillery shells, unmanned vehicle and anti-drone systems, and various other vehicles, key to battlefield offensives, will arrive in Kiev.
These reinforcements, however, will not be in the country soon since, as established by the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), it is about equipment that Washington acquires from the defense industry or its partners and not from the stock of artillery already available for its national defense.
In any case, the White House has not been concerned about this period of time that the shipment may take since, as the Joint Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, recently assured, Kiev has enough undeployed weapons to continue with its attacks.

Ukraine has “a significant amount of combat power not yet committedHe began by saying, adding: “Right now they are preserving their combat power and are slowly, deliberately and steadily working their way through all these minefields. It’s a tough fight.”
Late in the spring, Zelensky’s troops began the much-announced and long-awaited counteroffensive with which they aspire to recover the territories occupied by the invading army of Vladimir Putin.
Despite the fact that Ukraine’s top military commanders have spent the last few months plotting these operations, they have acknowledged that the attacks are taking place more slowly than expected while denying that they lack significant progress or victories.
In this sense, the allies of the NATO They backed their fight and reiterated their support for victory in the war, during last week’s summit in Vilnius. There, the advance of Ukraine in the conflict had the central place and they defined new assistance strategies as well as sending more weaponry of European countries and the training of more officers in their military bases.

“We are going to help Ukraine build a strong and capable defense on land, sea and in the air. It will be a force for stability in the region and a deterrent against each and every threat,” Biden said then.
