Zendaya wins her first Golden Globe, but she doesn’t go for it

The actress used her Instagram account to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the honor.

Zendaya won “Best Actress in a Television Drama Series” at the 2023 Golden Globes for her work on HBO’s Euphoria. However, the actress was not at the ceremony to accept the honor.

This was the first time that the actress triumphed at the Golden Globes; she also won two Emmy Awards for her role in Euphoria. She beat out Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), Laura Linney (Ozark), Imelda Staunton (The Crown) and Hilary Swank (Alaska Daily) in the category.

Zendaya recently wrapped filming on Dune: Part Two, due out in November, and has Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers set for the summer.

The actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to express her gratitude after winning her first Golden Globe, explaining that she was not on hand to accept the honor, apparently due to work commitments.

“I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there tonight but just wanted to thank @goldenglobes for this amazing honor,” she wrote next to a black and white photo of herself on the set of the show.

“To my fellow nominees, it is a privilege to be named alongside you, I deeply admire you all,” the actress continued.

Zendaya thanked those in charge of the show: «Thanks to my Euphoria family, without you none of this is possible. Lastly, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has allowed Rue to do her thing.”
